Norwegian Institute of Nature Research (NINA), Department of Arctic ecology, Tromsø
I am senior researcher at NINAs department in Tromsø. A main focus is to disentangle the relative role of food-limitation and predation on reproductive success and survival of semi-domestic reindeer – an issue that has been challenging for both herdsmen and management authorities. I am the project leader of the national monitoring program for semi-domestic reindeer which started in 2014.
My role in SUSTAIN
My contribution to the SUSTAIN project is to provide data and competence on the reindeer-carnivore system. Data includes official statistics of population sizes of semi-domestic reindeer and large carnivores preying on reindeer, and data from detailed individual-based, long-term monitoring of semi-domestic reindeer.
