PhD Candidate, CBD

Background

I have a background in population ecology with a focus on the effects of climate and density on population dynamics in Svalbard reindeer. I enjoy field work in remote areas, working on reindeer and seabirds on Svalbard, as well as humpback whales and kangaroos in Australia. Some of my interests are population dynamics, population genetics, species interactions, R, biotelemetry, conservation and management.

My role in SUSTAIN

My work within the SUSTAIN project will be part of the Arctic terrestrial case-study, focusing on effects of climate and harvest on Svalbard reindeer population dynamics. I will assess the interaction of the management goals, hunter’s perspective and harvest outtake with the standing population structure of Svalbard reindeer. I will also investigate spatial genetic variation in relation to connectivity between subpopulations and historical harvest bottlenecks.
